(OOC) This was a post that was in the making for the last week, so I need to post it, even if it doesn't matter anymore, for the sake of resolution.

Interrogation Room #1, Project X-COM Base

A similar scene of a guard typing on a computer as Ayame sits in silence. Satisfied, he calls out the door, and a familiar soldier walks in, this time followed by Dr. Vahlen and young man.

The young man takes a seat across from Ayame. She looks up a him tiredly, and worry comes across her face "This is ludicrous," the interrogator, Brig. Chapman grumbles.

"Well, obviously the people who sign your paycheck disagree," Dr. Vahlen returns. "Maybe if you had actual results, we wouldn't be here." Chapman lets out a soft growl, and Vahlen turns to Ayame. "Ms. Kasagi, this may seem a bit unorthodox, but this is John and he will be questioning you today. John, can you give me a baseline for the room?"

John closes his eyes for a moment, then looks at everyone in the room in turn, saying, "The guard is fearful of the interrogator, as well as curious about me. The interrogator is feeling a great deal of animosity towards us, though also feel a sense of smug confidence. As for the suspect, she is currently feeling a distinct dislike towards our interrogator, and feels rather hopeless about her current situation. She...she also seems to be fearful...of me." John briefly gives Ayame an apologetic look, then returns to his stoic look.

"Thank you John." Dr. Vahlen looks once more at Ayame. "Now, John here will ask you a series of questions about the victim in this case. Please answer the questions honestly. This might seem hard to believe..."

"He'll know if I'm lying," Ayame says, giving John a cold look.

"W-what?"

"He'll know if I'm lying, right. No matter how hard I try, he'll see past it, because he is either a telepath or an empath."

"M-Ms. Kasagi, how did you.....um, yes, well, let us begin. John?"

John mouths the word sorry, before asking Ayame about her encounter with the lieutenant. She squirms as she reluctantly goes into detail about her anger towards the victim.

"Now Ayame, how did manage to get the jump on the victim?" John asks.

"I'll tell you like I've told him over and over again, it wasn't me!" Ayame yells, suddenly bursting into tears.

"Now, Ms. Kasagi," Dr. Vahlen says, stepping to John's side, "that isn't going to work. I told you John would know if you lied. I thought you understood..."

"Um, Dr. Vahlen, I'm sorry, but she isn't lying." John looks at Ayame intensely, then nods to Vahlen.

"What?" She says in surprise. "But the report said she had already admitted her guilt, and we were just here to convince her to sign a confession. Are you absolutely sure?

John reaches into his small camcorder and asks Ayame again whether she was responsible for the attack, which she again denies. He plays the video back for Dr. Vahlen. [The screen shows heavy static when Ayame speaks, Frustration: Chapman, Earnestness, John] Again, John nods to Vahlen.

"Are you both insane!" Chapman yells suddenly, slamming his fist against the wall. "Do you honestly expect me to believe that this girl is innocent, despite all of the evidence agains her, just because you have a 'feeling'! That will never hold up with my superiors!"

"That is exactly what we expect you to believe," Dr. Vahlen says, crossing her arms, "And as for your superiors, John's empathic abilities are well known and excepted by the entire staff, include the Commander, so I'm afraid it will 'hold up'."

"THIS IS BULLSHIT!" Chapman yells, "Do you think for one second I'm going to allow her to be released because of this?!"

"With all do respect, 'sir'," John says, looking angrily at Chapman, "you don't need psychic powers to see that you seem to be more worried getting a confession then whether or not you have the right suspect."

"And you actions lay credence to several reports of assault that have been leveled against you," Dr. Vahlen interjects, pulling out a sheet of paper. "You have been accused of assaulting three trainees, named Andrews, Stone, and Foulke."

"That is ridiculous, I did no such thing!"

"S you completely deny these claims?"

"Of course I do!"

John nods at Dr. Vahlen, and she puts the paper away with a defeated look. "Doctor, do you mind if I ask him something?" John asks, and Vahlen nods. Looking Ayame up and down, John asks, "Are you responsible for the injuries on Ayame?"

"What...I...I filed my report, she...she recieved them resisting arrest and becoming violent during..."

"Your lying. Did you hurt her unprovoked? Was this part of you interrogation process?"

"No, I, this...I didn't..."

"Your getting awfully nervous. Answer the question! Did you try to beat a confession out of her?"

Anger saturates Chapman's face. "I don't have to stand for this," he says as he starts to leave. Dr. Vahlen motions to the guard, who stands in Chapman's way. "Get the fuck out of my way, or you'll..." The guard pulls out his handgun and calls for the second guard outside, who handcuffs Chapman and takes him away.

Dr. Vahlen tells the first guard to remove Ayame's handcuffs. He starts to protest, but she assures him she will take full responsibility. As everyone exits and the guard goes to the laptop to end the recording, Vahlen asks John to escort Ayame to the infirmary.

*End Recording*

Dear Space Diary,

Pitiful, pitiful Hootnams. Why did I even dare get my hopes up? They are but weak failures who deserve no place in this Galaxy. All they had to do was get past a few weak troops on a battleship, but they failed miserably. This failure will not be tolerated. Even if they have the Gift, which has not been shown, they would be failures like the Sectoids. Failures that only know how to kill themselves and die foolish deaths. Too many imperfections, there is little to uplift.

I have ordered an immediate full termination of all surface agents; we'll probably lose Fingers, but he will at least take a few Hootnams down with him, either through fire or poison. All subjects in the labs will be terminated, followed by the rest of this miserable species by our full might. All the Mutons and Chryssalids we've been breeding; all the Cyberdiscs and Sectopods we've been building; all the Floaters we've been splicing. They will stand no chance as we rain death upon them from our battleships.

They will all burn because they could not control themselves, because they would rather kill each other than unite to resist us. How dare they be so arrogant? How dare they be so ignorant? No more will they contaminate this Universe with their trivial conflicts, their hopeless bickering, their incessant fighting. Silenced forever. They will likely not even see everything burn around them as they die, they will fight each other until the very end.

Our scouts have already found another world to test, another world doomed to fail us. Surely we, the greatest failures of all with our frail bodies, could not possibly be the pinnacle in this Universe. We who failed to ascend. We who will never find those who can succeed us. No. I will not accept such false concepts, there is always a chance. A chance that we will find a success next.

(Long, drawn out sigh) That...was...depressing. Damn, that last mission was bull-crap.

Oh, well, no point in dwelling on it. I'd just like to say, I've had more fun doing this then I've had in a long time. Checking the logs was something I did first thing in the morning, and I looked forward to putting in my post everyday after work.

Assuming there is a third season (please, Commander Odd, please), I hope to see characters like Ayame, Anna, Richard, Aribeth, and Tyler again. As for Joseph, I have other plans. To be perfectly honest, I was in a rush to put in my Character so I could be as high on the list as possible, and Joseph doesn't have much creativity to him, considering he's based almost entirely on me. Seriously, nearly every aspect about him, from his family to his childhood is me. The only original things were the aliens (obviously), the time in the marines, and Jessica. John and Shawn are my actual brothers, James Parker is my therapist, Jessica's friends, McKayla and Angel, are my niece and oldest nephew, and Rebecca, the therapist whom Anna talked to, is my older sister (whom I removed in place of Jessica).

I actually had an idea for a character after the fact, and I was so upset that I didn't think of her earlier, I inserted her after I knew she was too far back to ever get any action (#66), just so Odd wouldn't force me to remove her, and planned to introduce her if and when Joseph died. It actually works out since I was just about to have Jessica transferred to the base. If there is a season three, I plan to use her, so I hope Ayame and Anna will be as friendly to Alexia Odd, aka Victoria Strange, as they were to Joseph. She'll need all the help she can get.

Until then, thanks to everyone.

OOC: After seeing it wasn't an TBS like Enemy Unknown I ignored it, but due to season 3 using it, I looked into The Bureau. Unfortunately, there are no female squad mates. So unless you're okay with being a supporting character, as the games setting would say, puts some pants on!

I don't know what prompted me to write a last will or whatever you want to call it, but here it is. Maybe it was the impending doom I felt we were facing. Maybe it was just some subconscious forethought on my part. I don't know.

I'll never know if I died alone or with someone else, on the fields of battle or in base, but whatever the case, it was an honor serving under you Commander. I know you made some choices I wasn't happy about, but, you still were a great Commander. Thanx for that mate.

(OOC: Man Mr. Odd, they really screwed you over on that one. I don't think there was much more that you could've done. Thanks for everything. And thank you guys too. I know I didn't contribute as much as some people might've wanted me to, and I'll try and change that in Season 3.

Looking forward to the next season!

William Aronus Davin, signing off for the last time.

[the camera turns on, showing a bemused Ayame limping along, being supported by the camera holder, who is just out of frame]

She looks disdainfully at the camera. "Why exactly do you feel the need to film this?"

John's voice comes from the right: "I film everything."

[Ayame rolls her eyes, and the camera turns to the front, and the two walk in silence for a long time, until eventually Ayame speaks up]

Her voice is uncertain, "th-thanks, I guess, for doing this"

[The camera turns back onto her]

"I would have done it, no matter who it was, but I'm happy that it was you"

She turns to glare suspiciously at a point above and to the right of the camera and there's wary edge in her voice "Why?"

"Because you can help me, I don't know anything beyond instinct about my abilities, you are untrusting of me, though I do not know why, so this event helped extended the olive branch and show that I do not intend harm.

[he sighs, and the screen becomes grainy in perfect time with it]

"Despite this show of peace, it seems you are still wary of me" There is unhidden and genuine hurt in his voice "Why?"

She narrowed her eyes "You mean besides the fact that your monitoring me right now."

his voice has an edge of shame in it, "As far as I know, My abilities are unconscious, I can not stop reading your basic emotions anymore than I can stop seeing light in a well lit room, I am giving you as much privacy as I can, and I am truly sorry that I cannot give it to you completely."

Ayame's suspicion look softens somewhat, and she sighs as well, "It is so much you I am wary off, but rather what you are, I have come across too many like you who have used their abilities nefariously to trust any of them" She pauses for a few moments "Though you seem different"

"Different, that's a good word for me"

[Ayame suspicious look degenerates into one of empathy, and she simply nods]

John's tone spontaneously changes, becoming upbeat, "Look, People!"

[Ayame looks forward, and the colors go wild, eventually settling on negative and the picture becomes slightly grainy, Love: Anna. Worry: Shouldn't see me like this. The camera swivels, returning the colors to normal, and revels Anna and Joseph standing at the end of the hallway, standing next to the infirmary]

[the two walk up to them, and Ayame is transferred into Anna's gentle arms, the camera shifts until it is facing John,

He smiles "I think you should give us some privacy little camera"

OOC: I will try and return with John in Season 3, If that is possible, if not, than a suspiciously similar character will appear on the roster, Man I'm sad this is ending, curse you random damage

Here is an idea to explain how the events that just occurred, ending the season, could happen AND how a new season could continue with the same characters. Tell me if you like it, Commander Odd.

Like I mentioned before, for season three, I plan to introduce what was my secondary character for season two, Alexia Odd. I have some kinks to work out on her character, but essentially, she comes from an alternate, dystopian future in which the war against the aliens continued for decades, with everything going to Hell for Project X-COM after the death of Commander Odd.

To integrate this with the current events, after Commander Odd dies, Brigadier Stephan Chapman was able to use his influence to become the new Commander of X-COM. He had Anna and Richard (but not Joseph, since he's kinda dead) dismissed from X-COM for their false reports, John and Dr. Vahlen were "removed" under suspicion of conspiring with the aliens, and Ayame was executed as an example of what happens if anyone challenges him. He then sent the troops out on that last mission, and botched it up. With the loss of five field soldiers (seven including Aribeth and Kessler), five trainees, and the head of Research all in a matter of days, the base was unprepared when the aliens attacked it.

When Alexia succeeds in preventing the Commander's murder, he sees the danger of the mission and they don't go on it, saving the lives of all those soldiers. He doesn't approve of Chapman's request to have John and Vahlen removed, so they are available to get Ayame off the hook and Chapman is arrested. However, Alexia doesn't disappear like she expected, and her presence outside of her natural timeline causes a sort of temporal resonance that will cause not only her, but Commander Odd, her closest relative (besides herself, of course), to remember both timelines, so you'll be able to remember things that technically never happened.

...its an idea, anyway. I have an affinity for time travel stories, so I think I could fill in any holes that come up. Tell me what you think.

Hmm, this could work, and it could probably explain why several S2-prime timeline soldiers would show up in the Bureau for S3, likely to set more right what went wrong regarding what happened in '62.

This was a difficult mission Commander, but we all know you made the choices you did with all of your team's safety in mind. I know how much you value them. I'm still healing in med, but will go to the funerals for all who lost their lives today, I'm going to see if there is anything that I can do for Scruffson's son before I leave here just to make sure there is someone to care for him.... After I'm healed I will be heading back home - I have crossed this off my bucket list. Next on my list is to go to Niagara Falls - I think the sounds of the falls will provide me with some peace that I need right now .... Once again thank you for this experience, it will be one that I will never forget! It was a pleasure to serve you Commander Odd... Come home for a visit when you can for a well deserved rest, I miss and love you so much ! Momma Bear - out

It's been a lot of fun, even if it was cut short. A lot of the journals were fantastic and the overall RP skill of the community is wonderful. I enjoyed getting to read everyone's journals every day.

That being said I'd just like to say that a big part of RP is learning to let go. We all had things planned for our characters, we all had invested into them. At the same time, we all knew that in RP and especially in X-COM, you can lose everything instantly, no matter what plans you had to for the future and how much you did in the past.

I'd like to think that a lot of the characters reached a point of resolution and character development exceeding anything that happened in Season One. I'll be the first to say this season, despite being cut short, was better than the first and I hope you will all bring something fresh and great to the next one.

It was alot of fun to get back into rping to be honest. I had to step away from it for a time when my kids were born, but it was a hard mission to be very honest Odd that mission cost me two save files due to how hard it is. The only time I got through it I had to pretty much baby walk my way through the damn thing and even then I still lost two people. Best of luck and if there is room I would love to be a part of season 3, it was a joy to be part of this season just due to how much was going on.
