The floater thing is rp gold, yeah. Poor MEC troopers. If they don't have an iron-clad will and self confidence, that should provoke some serious soul searching.

Shouldn't be too hard really. Did a squishy part of the torso get shot, or a limb? Go from there. There doesn't seem to be a lot of full body cybernetic integration, just the connection points at the sockets.

Well it's possible he resigned his commission before going to the CIA. It is easier to get hired by a federal agency as a veteran. Alternately, the Special Activities Division in the CIA likes to borrow operators from the military for their covert operations.

It's pretty well written, but he rather runs into Gary Stu territory. He's too perfect, no flaws (none mentioned at least). Also, pet peeve of mine, you can't enlist but then get to the rank of captain normally. Enlisted ranks (private, sergeant, etc) are a different track than officer...

Adrammalech gives very good advice regarding punctuation and grammar that I won't repeat, as well as tone. To me, it feels a little... disjointed. It seems like you decided on three major tropes and just threw them together as a history. Step 1) Childhood trauma. Step 2) War hero. Step 3)...

Ordinary or not, you also wrote in reasonably good English, with line breaks, good spelling, and proper grammar. I think that kind of thing is underestimated. We're going to be doing a lot of writing if selected, and if your character entry is difficult to read or understand, who is going to...

Speaking both from personal experience, and from frequent reports, a psychopath isn't much an asset in the military either. Military operations are highly team oriented, and require high degrees of cooperation and trust. How many accounts from the last several wars state the writer was fighting...

Lot of people with PTSD, though. Maybe we should have had someone apply to be a therapist! We all know XCom will be needing one... or more.

There's not really an "officer trainer" position, though. Nor are any of the four classes considered "tech"-based. They all use guns. Psionics is only a sub-class, that can apply to any soldier, if they're (un)lucky enough. Any of them has RP potential. Ryan would probably love having Mimetic...
