If you think about it, the Ethereals must be pretty pissed off that they have to work with the other alien species. I mean, they're smart as hell, and having aliens not being able to embrace the gift is kind of like how annoying it is when someone doesn't understand something you're trying to...

By far the most fun thing to role-play is going to be the Base Defense against the Aliens, since the engineers actually get to fight as base personnel. Probably not in the Delta sector where the fight happens in X-COM Enemy Within, but perhaps where the sounds of isolated gunfire come from in...
