Happy Steam Summer Sale everyone!

Speaking of tactics, I just got scared again by how intelligent X-COM's AI is. Storytime. I've had two instances where I've been straight-up outsmarted, rather than losing to odds. The first was during the first terror mission of my first Classic Ironman playthrough where there were many Chryysalids and many zombies, and I only had one Heavy remaining. Just as I decide that now would probably be a good time to make a retreat, a Chryysalid and a zombie, both of which were out of range initially, positioned themselves so that my path back to the Skyranger was blocked and that, no matter what I did, my Heavy would die. I had a few options as to how exactly she would die. I chose the explosive one.
The second one, which I encountered today in my third Classic Ironamn playthrough, was also during a terror mission where I ran smack-bang into a Sectopod with my Support. I cloaked her and moved her back to the rest of the team and I essentially set up camp and spammed Overwatch. 3 turns passed, and a Drone peeked out. It got shot by my MEC. Another 2 turns passed, and then, seemingly fed up with my tactical waiting, the Sectopod blew a hole in the wall. I didn't even know it could do that.
Anyone else got a similar story?
ok i was on a normal playthrough keep in mind it was an escort mission and the guy had one health left a thin man drops down right next to him and overwatched. the only guy with line of sight was a sniper with a 98%chance to hit. he MISSES the shot and the guy is shot next turn. i left xcom untouched for a month.

Right next to him? Because if it was close enough to him, the Thin Man's released gas upon death would have killed him anyway. Sounds to me like the definition of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Sadly, the 98% miss doesn't surprise me all that much...

Reaction shots don't have full accuracy.

I vowed to not play X-COM for a month after my favorite heavy died. It was the base defence mission and there was just one cyberdisk left; I had hid my heavy in the left room near the end of the base. All of my squad was in good health (except my heavy who had 3 health left) but instead of shooting, the cyberdisk launches a random grenade which killed my heavy. :(

My favorite memory of X-Com was probably the one where I was trying to get the achievement "Lone Wolf" on Impossible and Iron man mode. I even took a screeny of the end of the mission.

Lone Wolf: Clear a UFO crash site with one soldier on Classic or Impossible difficulty.
Operation Vengeful Daze
Soldier: Col. Georges "Poseidon" Martine
Kills: 51
Kills on Mission: 5
Missions: 21
Gravely Wounded (6 Days)
Aliens encountered:
Muton, Berserker, Sectoid, Outsider, Mectoid.

When I started the mission where the UFO crashed it was like a city on fire with destroyed buildings everywhere. It almost feelt like a special agent mission. Trying to pick off each grey one by one. The best part and most intence one was the Mectoid. Basically on encounter I was ontop of a roof (or what was left of it). And sniped the Sectoid with a shotgun. With luck I hit him and then I was on the run for the rest of the mission. The Mectoid was chasing me and I was trying to kill the others before focusing the Mectoid. Which after a hundred rounds I finaly managed, then the hunter became the hunted. Trying to find the Mectoid was hard since they have such huge movments. But I finaly managed to find him. I ran my Soldier up to get a flanked shot (or atleast as close as possible) and took the double hit with the shotgun. (Up to this point he didnt lose any hp.) So anyway he hit both times, but it wasn't enough to kill the Mectoid. My heart was racing then. All this and now he was going to die. Then it happend the Mectoid fired a shot right into his face and he survived, the second shot was a miss, my luck. I took him out and mission was done. But man that was a mission.

Looks good ao far. Body shape, pose, and hair make me think of Claire Redfield with an attitude. Makes me wish I had any talent to draw.

OMG you are right she does look similar to Claire. xD

I know what you mean, took me almost a year to even be able to draw something like this, and I find it quite noobish but still thank you ^^.
