May Ninth, Two Thousand and Fifteen
Dear Onkel,

The aliens seem to be taking their time with their ground assaults. They have the advantage of technology and manpower, why are they not abusing it? The largest group we have encountered in the field was squad-strength, but reports mention that they can come in groups as large as three squads, such as an abduction in Sao Paulo, Brazil that we did not respond to, prioritizing the United Kingdom instead. In fact, why are they even fighting us on the ground? Why can they not just shell the entire planet from orbit, then capture any living civilians? Or better yet, bombard XCOM HQ, considering that they likely can track where our Skyranger is deploying from! Something is peculiar with this invasion, I must say.

Aside from that tangent, the mission today was quite a success. Our combat team is becoming quite strong, especially with six members. Makes me wish that the Commander would hurry up with the next round of recruitment, so I can say to the next generation of Germans that yes, I did indeed serve mankind in our darkest hour. That is, if I survive. Though, with the recent development of laser weaponry, and rumors that the Commander is considering telling the research team to start researching stronger armor as soon as the next project finishes, we are beginning to level the playing field. But even without the fancy gear, the casualty level is surprisingly low, with only two people having died so far. This stands in stark contrast to national army responses to alien attacks, sometimes with several platoons being killed. What is it that we have, but they do not? Even if we are the best of the best, there are still the great of the best or the good of the best in the other armies, and they have a lot more of them. Even if we do catch the aliens with their figurative pants down, we still face numbers of aliens that can kill squads with ease. Yet another thing to ponder.

Writing this letter seems to bring up more and more questions. For instance, why did the United Nations Security Council even have a contingency such as X-COM seriously considered, let alone having a base and hangars set up, with the latter being placed across the world, and soldiers being marked down for future reference? So many strange things involved with this war, so many secrets. But, unless such matters become important, we shall focus merely on survival. As the adage goes, “Shoot first, ask questions later.” A fair bit more literal than intended, but it still holds true.

Well, perhaps now comes the time to end this letter. Perhaps some shooting will clear my mind.

May we meet again as I pass the veil,
Leon

Past Memories #3

After Onkel died, I was passed around between various relatives and friends of the family for the next four years, some kind, some harsh, but none of them were ever like Onkel. Eventually, at the age of seventeen, I was conscripted the year after I left Hauptschule. After I finished my six months, I re-enlisted, and eventually even managed to begin officer’s training. However, then I got this scar.

It was the end of my first year at the University of German Federal Armed Forces, the one in Munich, and me and several friends had decided to celebrate with some alcohol. We were all in uniform, and a bit intoxicated. Then, some fool decided to take offense at some perceived slight I performed, and an argument broke out. It became rather heated, and I was asked to leave, in the fool’s case he wasn’t asked, merely removed. As I exited the establishment, the man suddenly leapt upon me, knife in hand. He took a slash at my eye, but managed to miss the actual organ. I shoved him off, and gave him a good beating. Then, in a fit of drunken rage, I took the fool’s knife, and showed him how to blind a man in one eye. The demented cry of pain caught the attention of those inside, and they came out to find me cleaning a knife, and the fool clutching his bleeding eye.

If the tavern didn’t have a security camera on the outside, I would have likely been dishonorably discharged, instead I was kicked out of officer training, and reassigned as the quartermaster to a platoon stationed in Munster, part of Mechanized Infantry Battalion 92. I served there until those men came to my office, and told me I was being recruited for the X-COM Project. I accepted, and here I am today. And with the way promotions work in this unit, I stand a chance of becoming an officer again. Funny, how things can turn around like that. How mistakes in the past can become opportunities in the future.

-End recording.-

(Sorry this took me a while to post, ever since school started I have less time, since this is a school for advanced learning and not simple school, I guess you could say it's like University almost, but I will try to post whenever I have the time.)

During break at Officer training school I noticed one of my fellow soldiers sitting beside me, I never really meet him or introduced myself to him, so I decided now is a good time.

Colin turn to Joel
"Hello fellow Soldier, my name is Colin"

Joel glances looks towards Colin and looks him over. After a moment he holds out his hand, "Joel."

Colin shakes Joel's hand.
"Nice to meet you Joel, so why are you here in Officer Training school?"

"I was told I had to be, though I hardly think it's necessary." Joel scans the room. "I've been in combat more than most people here, I'm sure. What about you?" He asks Colin, but continues looking around.

Colin looks confusingly around to see what Joel is looking for.
"Uh yeah I have seen you in action, which made me wonder why you are here. I'm hoping to be out on the battlefield anyday now, so I come here to learn about what I will be facing down there. But hey you are experianced maybe you can give me some tips."

Joel stops, suddenly, and turns towards Colin. He looks the man over again, slowly this time. After a pause, he asks "It's really no different than shooting a man, and, considering you were chosen to come here, I'm assuming you've done plenty of that?"

Colin get's a worried look on his face
"Well...no acctually I never shot a man before, and I hope I never have to, the only thing I have ever shot on in the last 30 years of my life was targets, both moving and still once. The reason I was chosen to be here is do to my superior battle tactics. I even won an award for it, did not even know there was an award for worlds best tactiction until then. I was supprised when I heared that I will be fighting aliens instead of making tactics...Did you kill someone before?"

Joel looks into space, pondering the question. "Nobody who didn't deserve it," he responds, but seems unsure of himself.

"Well Joel, if it helps, I don't care what bad thing's you have done in the past, I respect you for being here fighting for the greater good along side me." Colin get's a faint smile.

Joel's face turns serious and he looks Colin in the eyes, "Why are you here?"

"Well...to defend to the people of earth from an unkown enemy? I Guess?"

"Mhm..." Joel mumbles sarcastically. "Why are you REALLY here?"

"I do not understand you Question, X-COM came to me one day and told me they needed me in order to protect the earth, they chose me because of my tractical knowledge, why don't you tell me why you are here..."

"I... I've made a lot of mistakes and I thought, maybe, this would give me a chance for... redemption."

"Ah I see, I guess many people here have diffrent reasons then."

"So... you just came here out of the goodness of your heart? Pretty noble compared to most people here."

"Yeah I guess, not many people like me out there, atleast that is what I'm always told."

Joel lets out an exhausted "Hmph" and stands up. "That's not always a good thing," he says as he begins to walk away.

"What you are doing isnt always best either..."
Colin looks at Joel with a serious face.

Joel's shoulders slump when he hears this. "Goodbye, Colin" he says as he walks out of the room.

"Strange guy"
Colin packs his stuff and leaves.

//WRITTEN JOURNAL ENTRY #041//
Even since Axton van Dam had left my office, I'd been worried about him. I had heard no reply from the psychologist and I could not see him being alone going well. As such, I left my office to drop by his new accommodation. Upon approaching his room, I heard violent screams and a only a moment later did it go completely silent.

I knocked on the door, but there was no response. When I tried the handle, the door was locked. Busting it open took little effort, yet what I found inside was shocking. Axton lay on the floor, bleeding profusely from his hand and chin. He had surrounded himself in brand new, unlit candles and seemed to be unconscious. I acted quickly and lifted him over my shoulder and carried him to the medical centre.

He had lost a lot of blood and the doctors say that if I had not busted down his door, he would have surely bled to death. They reported he had inflicted the wounds upon himself by stabbing himself with a knife. This is a most curious case and it proves my suspicions. Van Dam had gone completely insane it seems and managed to smuggle all sorts of goods into his room.

Now I must investigate where he got the candles, as such would never be allowed inside an underground facility. I thought I had confiscated all out-of-action weaponry, but apparently Axton had managed to smuggle a knife with him. Now he suffers because I did not catch onto this sooner. I hope he awakens soon and gets the psychological help he needs. Sure Command will now notice that he should not be placed into action any time soon.

At 08:00, Persephone Brown, Ayame Kasagi, Colin Weger and Charles McAfree were summoned to the trial. The reports had been analysed and Command decided to further investigate. As the four appeared before them, Chief of Staff Brian Kindley introduced the case summary.

"Command has recently received several reports accusing Charles McAfree of sexual harassment. Tied to this case is the assault on his person by Persephone Brown, who claims it was a reaction to that which he is being accused of. The reports have been thoroughly analysed and we will begin by calling Charles McAfree to the stand."

The accused approached the stand and Kindley continued.

"Doctor McAfree, you sent a report to Command after you got assaulted by Rookie Brown. In this report you claim that Rookie Kasagi approached you for sexual favours, while she claims you were harassing you. You wrote, and I quote, 'when Kasagi grabbed my wrist'. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, you are seen grabber her wrist, which Rookie Kasagi confirms in her report. It is for this reason we suspect your dishonesty in this case. What do you plead?"

"My memories of the night in question might have been a bit...skewed by the combination of an uncomfortable situation that was thrust upon me and the head trauma I received." He gives Persephone a cold look. "However, I stand by my assertion that she approached me."

"And why did you remain outside the labs after escorting Rookie Kasagi out? Someone in the labs reported that you said you were going on a break. This is when you took her to your barracks."

"As I said in my report, this is when she started coming on to me. When I refused her entry, she started offering sexual favours. I told her that nothing would change, but she insisted she could "change my mind". So I went on break and went back to my room, since she said she had "nosey room-mates". I'm not proud of my actions, but a man has needs, and she was practically begging me."

Ayame squirms uncomfortably in her seat.

"And yet, she is the one who seems to be trying to walk away, after which you grab her wrist and pull her toward you. How do you explain this? Especially since your report says the opposite."

"Yes, I'm sorry, as I said, the blows to my head got me all confused. I believe I am starting to remember... Ah yes, now I remember. Ms. Kasagi went to talk to this Weger guy here, and when she came back she seemed agitated. She said something about taking a rain-check when certain individuals weren't around, I can only assume she meant Weger, and she made to leave. But she looked scared, and I stopped her, asking her if Weger had threatened her. That is when Weger came forward and threatened to assault me. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't stick around to stand up for her. I can only hope he didn't hurt her." He gives Colin a cold, disapproving look. It is clear to see that Colin is trying to stay calm but has anger in his face.

The Chief of Staff takes down a few notes as he continues. "This seems wildly different from what you reported and the results from your medical exam show no signs of concussion or serious head-injury otherwise. You cannot expect me to believe such a radical difference."

"Yes, well, I am afraid that is how it went down, regardless of any expectations you might have. I'll have you know, I've head constant headaches since my encounter with Ms. Brown, which I have been forced to ignore for the sake of my work. Now, if you inclined to believe Ms. Kasagi's sob story, that is your prerogative, but the fact of the matter is, it is my word against hers, and I'm telling you she was lusting after me like a friggin' pussy in heat."

Ayame leaps to her feat and shouts, "Tā shì yīgè shuōhuǎng de rén zhā!Wǒ yǒngyuǎn bù huì ràng tā pèng wǒ, gèng bié shuō gēn tā shàngchuáng!"

Colin slams his fist on the table and starts yelling. "I don't know what Ayame just said but I agree with her, someone make this liar shut the hell up! I will not continue to listen this guy talking pure bullshit about my daug...my friends! This description of Ayame is just lies! We all know here that Ayame would never do something like that. Look it up judge! Sorry for my burst out but this is truly outrageous!"

"Please, do not speak out of turn." Kindley turned back to McAfree. "Your work has been reported flawless as ever, Doctor, which further proves nothing is wrong with your mind. If there was, then there is no reason to assume anything you are saying is true to begin with."

"As I see, this only goes to show my brilliance," he sad smugly. "At any right, is there any solid evidence against me, or are we simply grasping at straws here?"

"Very well, since you chose to avoid the question, we'll move on to one of the accusers. Let Rookie Colin Weger take the stand." Kindley waits for McAfree to leave the stand and for Colin to take his place.

"You wrote in your report that you heard Rookie Kasagi being harassed by Doctor McAfree, is this correct?"

"That is true, I did not want to interfere directly, because I was unsure of Ayame's actions, but when I heard what this guy said I had to stop it. I being a father myself felt the need to protect Ayame."

"And just to be clear, Rookie Kasagi did not in any way say or imply she wished to enlist sexual favours from Doctor McAfree?"

"That is 100% true, also I know that she would never do something like that. Neither would I, I have a wife and daughter at home."

"Command has no more questions for you, Rookie Weger. But perhaps the accused would like to attempt to defend his stance by questioning the first accuser. If so, now is the time." Brian Kindley looks toward Doctor McAfree awaiting a statement.

Mac sat in silence for a moment, contemplating his next move. "I... have a few questions, if that is okay, sir."

"Go ahead, Doctor." Kindley replied.

He took a few careful steps forward, thinking carefully. After a moment, he asked, "Mr. Weger, exactly what is the nature of your relationship with Ms. Kasagi? Have you known her for a long time?"

"Ayame and I are friends, I got to know her shortly after I arrived here at base, there was no other way for me to have met with her outside this base since we were continents apart, so to answer your question... No."

"So you barely know each other, and you want us to believe your relationship is entirely platonic. Don't you think a man your age following around a young woman barely out of her teens is suspicious?"

"Heh, I could ask you the same question. Then again, you should not forget why I followed her: it was because of you. It's true I have not known Ayame for long, but long enough to know that she distrust men, you made a false promise and that lured her into your quarters. Why does she trust me? Maybe because I proved to her that I'm nothing more than a nice fatherly person. I don't know but I'm glad she does, it means a lot to me." Colin looks at Ayame shortly then to the judge.

"Also I'm married now for over 20 years, I have a daughter, I have no desire to break my relationship to them. I also had enough fun in my life, I don't need someone to please me ever week like you Mac." Colin looks at Mac with anger and disgust. "I bet if your Father could see you here right now he would deny being your father. I sure know I would."

"I'd ask Command to instruct Mr. Weger to answer the questions, and not go off on these tangents." Mac gives Colin a sneer, but then smiles. "Besides, simply being married doesn't mean you wouldn't sleep with another woman." He glances at Ayame. "Ms. Kasagi is quite attractive, if a little on the petite side." He looks back at Colin. "There is no reason to believe you wouldn't have an affair with her, trapped here, underground." Mac gathers his thoughts. "You said I 'lured' Ms. Kasagi to my quarters. Are you implying she didn't know what we were going to do there? Then why was she going with me?"

Colin stands up and bursts out: "How dare you imply that I would sleep without another woman!" Colin takes a second to stay calm and sits back down.

"Say buddy, are you deaf? I just said you made her a false promise: you promised her to show her a Chrysallid corpse, since when do we keep those in our bedroom? You also promised her access to the labs. As far as I know, only the Commander has that authority. Let's be honest here, everybody can lie to a point where the other does not know if it's true. Ayame did not know what your true intentions were since you fogged her mind with your lies and false promises. I on the other hand already knew that you were lying since Anna Stone was not allowed into the Workshop! I also said I had my fun. But fuck, why don't we do a fucking test? That would prove that I do not have an affair with Ayame."

Colin takes a second to noticed he was standing and yelling again. He turns to the judge. "I'm sorry, can I take a second outside? I need to gather my thoughts, it's not like me to just burst out in anger and rage, but listening to lies gets me angry easily."

Mac smirks, saying, "Yes, that would probably be for the best. If he doesn't, his anger might prove my point about his angry outbursts that led to him threatening me." Persephone has been clenching her fists giving him the stink eye throughout this whole trial, but upon hearing that she tries to calm herself down. Colin mumbles with anger.

"We will have a short break", Kindley started, "however, I have to request none of you discuss this case outside this room. If you'd please have this break separately. We reconvene in ten minutes."

"Yes sir." Persephone answered.

"Y-Yes sir." Ayame says nervously. Mac just smiles, and walks to the back of the room. He sits back and puts his feet up, a smug look on his face. Ayame gets up to exit. As she walks past Mac, he gives her a wink, a huge smirk spreading from ear to ear. She rushes past him, bursting through the door.

"Thank you Judge." Colin goes outside.

After ten minutes Colin comes back into the room and sits back down on his spot. Ayame walks in a few moments later, taking her seat. Her eyes are red and puffy. Mac takes his seat, glancing at Ayame out of the corner of his eye, smiling. As Mac smiles, Persephone sends him a death stare.

"Alright, we can continue with our discussion. Mac, got any more questions?" Colin says.

"We are in session once more, Doctor McAfree can continue questioning Rookie Weger." Kindley tried to keep some order in the heated spirit of things.

"Thank you, sir." He turns to Colin. "Mr. Weger, why don't we start with the question you've been avoiding. Why was Ayame going with me to my room? You claim I gave her false promises, which is a ridiculous lie, but even if it was true, you yourself said that I promised her access to the Lab, and that we don't keep alien corpses in our barracks. Surely Ms. Kasagi knew she wasn't going to see a Chryssalid in my room, so why did she go with me? What do you think she expected to happen that prompted you to follow us?" He smirks. "And please, Mr. Weger, answer the question without writing an essay."

Colin is calm and says in a friendly voice: "Well Mac, why don't you ask her yourself why she went with you. I only followed to protect her. That's it I'm answering no more questions from you."

Mac's smile widens. "That's fine. I think you've proven my point." He turns to Kindley. "I have no further questions."

"Very well, Dr. McAfree. Please leave the stand, Mr. Weger." After a quick look through his notes and files, Kindley makes his next announcement. "Please approach the stand, Ms. Kasagi, we will now begin questioning the second accuser and acclaimed victim of sexual harassment by Dr. McAfree."

Ayame stands up and nervously approaches the stand. She takes her seat and looks down at her folded hands.

"Can you please give us your account of what happened on that day? How did you run into Dr. McAfree?"

"I met him at the main laboratory. He stopped me when I tried to enter, and, um... just started complementing me... I think. He called me cutey and sweet... cheeks?"

"And why were you trying to enter a restricted area?"

"I... I-I am sorry, sir. I had heard they were doing autopsies on the Thin Men and I was hoping I could get a closer look. Ma... um, Dr. McAfree said he could make that happen."

"From the reports and surveillance it shows he escorted you out of the labs. He took you to the lab-staff dormitories. What happened there?"

"He brought me to his... what I assume was his room, a-and that is when Co... Mr. Weger showed up and pulled me aside. H-He told me I should not trust Mac."

"So after your talk with Mr. Weger, why did you return to Dr. McAfree if you were not to trust him?"

"I... I wanted to ask if he could really make good on his promise... and..." Ayame looked shamefully at the ground, "What he... wanted me to do for him..."

"Did you know what he wanted from you at this point?"

"No! No, I swear... I, I... he just said he wanted, um, some 'social interaction' and... to get... to know me. I realize how stupid I was being now, but I swear, I didn't know! I-I would... never..." Ayame placed her trembling hands over her face.

Kindley waited for a moment before continuing. "Could you please continue? What happened when you returned to Dr. McAfree?"

"I-I asked him if he was telling the truth, and he said I should not listen to Mr. Weger. I then asked him what he wanted from me, and he...told me, a-and I immediately tried to leave. Then he grabbed my wrist, a-and told me I had to take responsibility for 'p-promising him a good time'. That is when Colin stepped in and told him to let me go. H-He did, a-and Colin walked me back to my room."

"Why did you not report this sooner? And why did you only report this after the incident concerning Ms. Brown?"

"I am sorry, I know I could have prevented so much grief if I had said something. B-But I was... humiliated. I didn't want it getting out that I was so stupid to be led along like that, or that I was some kind of... base tramp."

"Then what made you change your mind and write a report?"

"Once I was told Per... um, Ms. Brown was in trouble, and that she said he had done the same thing to her that he did to me, I decided to say something. I am still afraid of what people are going to say, but she is more important then my stupid pride."

"Very well, Ms. Kasagi. Command has no more questions at this time, we give Dr. McAfree the chance to ask you some questions now." Kindley turns to McAfree. "Go ahead, Doctor."

Mac smiles, crack his knuckles and walks over to Ayame. "Ms. Kasagi, as Mr. Weger has already pointed out, there is no way I can get you into the labs or get anything out for you. Even if I said I could, as you claim, why would you believe me?"

"I... I was trying to be more trusting."

Colin mumbles: "Which he totally fucked up now."

Mac briefly turns his eyes towards Colin before continuing. "Mr. Weger insists that you don't trust men, and you had just met me. Seems a bit fishy."

"That is not fair! You tricked me! You said you knew Anna, and she asked you for something!" Ayame cries out.

"Anna? Anna... Anna... hmm, you mean that Russian woman? Never met her."

"But you said you had!"

"And why would you believe me if you don't trust men?!"

"I... I..." Ayame sighs. "Because if it was for Anna, I was willing to take a risk."

Mac chuckles. "How convenient." Mac paces for a few moments, gathering his thoughts. "Ms. Kasagi, why did you come with me to my quarters?"

"To help you with something."

"Something, huh? Can you be more specific? What something?"

"S... s-sex."

"Oh, so you knew?"

"No! I already said I didn't know!"

"Drop the innocent act, its getting old! You knew exactly what you were getting into. If you want to sit there, accusing me of making false promises, that's fine. But don't insult us by claiming you didn't know exactly what we were going to do!"

Tears started to swell in Ayame's eyes. "I-I did, I d-did not... th-think..."

Persephone clenches her fist angrily and says through gritted teeth. "Quit it with the fucking charade Mac!"

"No, you need to quit this charade. Admit, Kasagi, Weger cut in on your fun, and now you're using me as a scapegoat to help Ms. Brown. Admit that you knew exactly what you were getting into!"

"No! I would never do that! I could never..." She falls silent, staring down at her hands.

"Could never what? Have sex with a man? Insult me if you must, but now you are claiming to lack basic human sexual urges?"

Ayame trembles, her voice shaking. "That is not what... what I am saying, I can not... I... I..."

"You what? Don't make such a bold claim and then refuse to back it up. You What?" Ayame remains silent, and Mac turns to Kindley. "Sir, please tell Ms. Kasagi to answer the question."

Persephone speaks up. "Here's a question for you! Why would I, a soldier for a top secret government program risk my own career for the sake of picking on a sad pathetic little creep like you? Especially when the research labs need all the staff they can get!"

"She has as much right as you do not to answer questions. It will of course be taken into account further along the trial. And please, Ms. Brown, try to stay calm. We will take your statements later." Kindley calmly replies.

"Yes sir."

"I'm starting to regret not threatening this guy..." Colin grumbles under his breath.

"Ms. Kasagi, will you answer him or not? If not, then please indicate this so Dr. McAfree can move on to his next question." Kindley sat ever calmly and waited patiently for them to continue.

"Well, if she refuses to answer, we'll just have to assume..."

"W-Wǒ shì yīgè nǚ...tóngxìngliàn."

"I beg your pardon? I'd hate to sound insensitive, but could you please speak up?"

"I...I'm gay." Ayame said quietly.

"Speak up please!" Mac got impatient.

"I am gay, alright?! I am a lesbian! That is why I could never have sex with you. I am not attracted to men!"

Colin has wide eyes and whispers under his breath: "Dang."

Mac seems taken aback for the first time. "Y-you... a... a likely story, you... maybe... maybe I should have said I was gay... I... I have no further questions." He sits down, a distressed look on his face.

Persephone looks surprised, but by no means in an unpleasant manner.

"No further questions, Doctor?", Kindley says as he frivolously writes down notes.

"No! I... ahem... no, sir, I have no more questions."

Surveillance Recording, X-Com Lunch Room,1900 Hours Local Time.

The camera turns on to show a strangely empty lunch room, the only people there are a Man and A Woman sitting in a large table in the middle of the room and a large man with a Scar from his Eyebrow to his Jaw sitting alone at a table in the corner of the room.

The Woman crosses her arms and says. "There is too much damn security around here..."

" I know I feel like they are watching me every second... its creepy... " Replies the Man.

" Did you notice all the security the put up in the Med-Bay? What the hell is all that about? "

" You didn't hear? One of the soldiers got torn to bits by one of those Cryssalid Aliens "

The woman looks shocked. " One of those things got in here? How Horrible! Do you know the name of the soldier?"

" Well I did go by the Med-Bay recently and they were going on about a "Ms. Stone" buts that's all I really heard"

The Scar Soldier looks up from his food and looks over at them, He says in a Gruff Voice. " Excuse me but... What did you say her name was?"

The two look over at him. " I Heard them say Ms.Stone. "

"You didn't hear her first name? " The scarred Man responds.

" No I didn't, but if its someone you know you can go and see her, they are allowing visitors from what I've heard..."

The Scarred man gets up from his chair and walks towards the door. " Thanks for the Information... "

The man looks at him. " Sure no problem I guess... "

The Scarred man leaves the room.

The Woman looks back at the man. " That was a little creepy... "

" Tell me about it... " The man responds.

The two continues eating and talking for a few minutes until the recording shuts off.

"Very well, you can now leave the stand, Ms. Kasagi." Kindley shuffles through some papers and clears his throat. "Next on the stand is Ms. Brown, charged with assaulting Dr. McAfree. Please approach the stand Ms. Brown."

"Okay, first off this creep laid his hand on me first! Second off I went down to the research labs in hopes of asking if I could volunteer, but I was told I needed to have special permission from Commander Odd to be there, so as I'm walking down to the main office HE starts following me on the way out. It was only after I told him numerous times to back off as well as him flat out admitting the stunt he'd tried to pull with Ayame that I finally lost my patience with him!"

"Surely you are aware this sort of action is something that could get you removed from this base. What were you hoping to accomplish?"

"I understand that my actions were unprofessional but I can assure you that they were out of a sense of self defence too."

"Not to mean offence to Doctor McAfree, but you are a trained soldier, he is a lab technician without such training. What threat could he pose to you that made you act in self defence?"

"Please, sir!" Ayame shouted, suddenly standing up. "What if something horrible happened to you, something from your past that so deeply scarred you, that when someone threatens to repeat it, you can't help but lash out, or... or.." She looked down at wrist. "Or find yourself paralysed with fear, despite your superior training."

"Amen." Said Colin.

Kindley, being formal as ever said: "Ms. Kasagi, please let Ms. Brown answer."

Persephone gives a stressful sigh and continues. "He tried cornering me in the hall, he said Ayame was a bit to thin for his taste but I had "certain assets" that she was lacking and started approaching me. That's when I threw the first punch!"

"The report is very clear on what happened next, and as such we will leave it to Dr. McAfree to ask further questions." Once more Kindley turned to McAfree. "Doctor?"

Mac stands up, his worried demeanour dissolving into a wide grin as he approaches Persephone. "Ms. Brown. Your first name was Persephone, right? Such a lovely name. A bit unusual, maybe, but lovely none the less. It would be a shame not to use it. Do you mind if I call you Persephone?"

"Listen pal! You're lucky I'm on thin ice or else I'd be tempted to give you another broken nose!"

Mac's smile widens. "Tsk-tsk, Ms. Brown, such a temper is so unbecoming for one with such a lovely name. I suppose that doesn't matter, though. A Rose by any other name would be just as violent, wouldn't you say?"

"YOU SHUT YOUR FUCKING TRAP BEFORE I..." Persephone stops herself before she could go any further, the judge looks at her disapprovingly. "Call me whatever the hell you want, let's just get this over with!"

"You want everyone to believe that you assaulted me in self-defence, but I think you're proving here that it probably had more to do with your ridiculously short temper. After all, when we first met, all I was trying to do was be friendly. I admit, I was captivated by your beauty. Who knew below the kittens cute appearance was a ravenous lioness ready to pounce."

"Friendly? From the second we met you were already trying to get into my pants you little creep! On what planet do you think "I'm having difficulty getting something up back in my room." is a friendly request?"

"Apples and oranges, Ms. Brown. On what planet is hitting on someone the same thing as threatening them? Let's face it, you have no legitimate reason for attacking me. Or are you still going to claim I talked about Ms. Kasagi and Mr. Weger, when we both know that isn't true either. As I see it, you were having a bad day, probably because Dr. Valhen kicked you out of the labs, and you took out your frustration on the first guy to cross your path, and the unlucky winner of your wrath was me."

"First off Dr. Vahlen didn't "kick me out," she said I could return as long as I had the commander's consent, and I acknowledge that she has her reasons for doing what she did! Second off if you really are the victim of this whole thing, and I just happened to take your "friendly" request out of context, you would have stayed as far away from me as possible after the first time I told you to fuck off!"

"Is that the best defence you can come up with, Ms. Brown? I was only trying help. You seemed upset, and I wanted to make sure you were okay. And I noticed you didn't even try to defend your claim that I mentioned Weger and Kasagi."

"What's the point? It's not like I actually have evidence to back up that claim... Wait a minute, I DO! Ayame never even said a word about her encounter with you, and I barely even know Colin! Yet I was the one who told Zhang about that particular little incident between the three of you. Honestly if you never said anything about Ayame and Colin they wouldn't even be with us right now! So then, where else other then from the only other person involved in that incident would I have gotten said information?

Mac starts to say something, but stops, looking confused. After a moment, he says, "I... you... you... could have talked to her about it... afterwards."

"No, she didn't!" Ayame shouts. "I didn't tell her! I didn't tell anyone until after she assaulted you. Why would I go around telling people but not report it!"

"That... that doesn't prove anything!" Mac yells. "You still could have told her! She... you... you could have told her, and... and then she used it as an excuse! Or... or you... y-you specifically told her to say... to claim I talked about you!"

Ayame smiles for the first time. "And for that matter, did you not just say she accused you of mentioning me and Colin? Persephone, do you remember saying anything about him mentioning Colin? Because I don't."

"Nope!" Persephone says triumphantly.

Mac's eyes widen. "Of... of course you did! You... you said you assaulted me because I talked about Colin and Aya.... uh, Weger a-and Kasagi! You said I... you, I remember you mentioning him!"

Persephone gives a smug look of satisfaction. "Looks like the lionesses just caught you off guard!"

Mac's face suddenly shows a fury that stands in opposition to his previous confidences. "Shut your mouth, you didn't catch anyone off guard...this, you still attacked me, and just because I mentioned your little slut friend doesn't mean you hand any right to place you filthy hands on me!" He looks back at Ayame, expecting her to react in anger, but she only smiles wider, which seems to enrage Mac even more.

"Tsk tsk Mr. McAfree, what was that you said earlier about my short temper?" Persephone says, the look still on her face.

Mac slams his hand against a wall. "I told you to shut your fucking mouth! You think this changes anything?! They don't need you here! This entire project would fall apart without me! You're nothing but some cheap floozy they hired to be a meat shield! The three of you combined are lucky if you even equal a tenth of my importance! You'll be out of here by the end of the week!"

"And YOU'LL be out of here as soon as the judge figures out what to do with you!"

Mac swings his head back and forth, first looking at Ayame, then at Colin, then back at Persephone. He seems to be at a loss for words, desperately trying to contain his anger and doing a lousy job of it. "I... I..." He angrily takes his seat and folds his arms.

"Are you done?" Ayame asks, pretending to look curious. Mac stares daggers at her, grumbling under his breath.

Kindley clears his throat. "That is quite enough. I think it is clear now what the truth is. Dr. McAfree, you have shown nothing but contempt for everyone in this room and provided nothing but clearly fabricated, incoherent stories. All evidence is stacked against you and for that we can reach a verdict.

You are hereby relieved of duty, that is to say fired. Once you have packed all of your belongings you will be sent away from this base and will have to attend mandatory classes on sexual harassment."

He pauses for a moment to shuffle through his papers and turns to Persephone. "As for you, Ms. Brown. You assaulted a member of the staff, but seeing the circumstances you will face reduced punishment. Twenty hours of lavatory service and five hours of mandatory aggression counselling.

This trial has now ended. I request those sentenced to pick up your documents in three hours to know the details of your sentence. Now please clear this room." Brian Kindley stood up and took his document with him out of the side-entrance.

Colin laughs a little. "Karma always catches up to you."

Mac looked over at Colin, absolutely stunned as he slowly rose to his feet. He stared at his hands, trying to get a grasp of the situation. He slowly moved his gaze between his three opponents, ending it on Ayame as she stood up, a look of relief on her face. Mac was suddenly filled with unbridled rage. He charged forward, and slammed Ayame to the ground. He pinned her under his legs and squeezed her neck, screaming "YOU STARTED THIS! THIS IS ALL YOU FAULT, YOU LITTLE TRAMP! I'LL FUCKING END YOU!"

Colin jumped over his desk and ran towards Mac, as soon as he got close enough he kicked him in his head. Then Mac lay there unconscious. "Little fucker." Colin spits on Mac then turn to Ayame and helps her up.

As a security guard carries Mac away, Ayame rubbed her neck, coughing loudly. Seeing Colin standing above her, she accepted his hand, climbing to her feet. "Thank you, Colin. Though now I am a bit jealous." She looks at a concerned Persephone. "You both got a shot at him. When do I get to hit him?"

Colin looks at the guards. "How about now? I bet the guards wouldn't mind you punching him, he wont feel it and he definitely deserved it. For all I care he should go to jail, he did just try to kill you after all."

The guards carry the unconscious doctor away, who now faced extra charges. The trio leave the trial room together, triumphant.

Shaojie Zhang awaits the trio in the common room, sitting on the couch he'd slept on only about a month back. As they approach he stands up. "How did the trial go?"

Persephone gives a sigh of relief. "I have difficulty seeing any way it could have turned out better."

"Even got a little dangerous in the end..." Colin adds.

Ayame stood before Zhang and gave a deep bow. "Thank you, sir. I am in your debt for all your help."

"I am glad it went well." Zhang showed a rare smile to the group, sighing briefly in relief. After a pause he regained his posture and put on his stern face once more. "Alright, back to training soldiers, there's rumours we are getting a simulator." He saluted the three and walked off.

Ayame turned to the other two and smiled. "Thank you both. I really mean that." She rubs her neck. "This gives me an excuse to visit Anna in the med-bay, but hopefully we can meet up at the range later. And Persephone," Ayame gave her a stern look, "you better tell me where you are assigned to clean so I can help you. With that, she ran off.

"Sure thing." She says to Ayame with a smile.

Colin turns to Persephone. "Wow... well that was something, sorry about my behaviour back then, it's not like me to rage, anyway it was nice meeting you, we should get to know each other better sometime, maybe somewhere not during trial." Colin laughs and reaches out his hand to shake.

Persephone turns to Colin and hesitates for a moment but then reaches out and returns his hand shake.

Colin gets a confused look on his face. "Well...alright, see you." Colin heads to his room.

"Hey wait!" Colin stops as Persephone calls out. "I never got the chance to say thank you, for helping the both of us."

Colin smiles. "Yeah, no problem."

Do you mind getting these hand cuffs off of me,and getting rid of security.

MR Van Dam you have a record of showing extreme aggression to words others, and the hand cuffs and the guards are here for my protection.

Axton lets out a frustrated sigh,Fine doc so what do you want to know about me.

In your journal entry you mention that your family predates,900,000 years, and that is not posabel, because humanity wasn't even created yet.

Rely, sorry about that my math is terrible,my ancestry goes back to 1080.

That is all most a thousand years, please tell me how do you your family history go back that far.

My family keeps track to our ancestor,I was all ways told that the past will be our salvation to our future,so we learned from stories of my ancestors learned what they did, there skills we learned a lot from them.

so you learn from your ancestors and take what they know and us it for today.

yes.

Axton, how do you know what your ancestors did, when they died hundreds of years ago.

the keep excellent notes, that they then pass down there notes to there off spring, then the offspring becomes an assassin he copies his fathers notes and also work on his,and so on and so on.

Wait, you mean to tell me you have all your ancestors notes here on base, reading and learning from them.

yes,I read them every day,and I learn from them and all there mistakes.

alright so when did you turn form assassins to bounty hunters.

around 1823,when slavery was around, my it is a stain on my family history, hunting another man because he wants to be free,it made me sick, until my ancestor john mustang, decided to fuck this and killed the men he once called friends to save one slave.

Why is none of this in he history books.

Dr,history will never remember the the assassins, nor the bounty hunter history will always for get the people that did the killing, the remember the kings the leaders.

Do you relay believe that.

Yes you tell this doc, tell me the name of George Washington men,or king Arthur knights,or better yet name the men that stormed Normandy and kicked nautzi ASS! you cant can you because those men got nothing but a medial and a tombstone.

the doctor is in silent for a moment,Axton what do you think will happen to the people here,do you think the people here will be remembered.

No history will forget excellent soldiers like Ayame, Colin Anna I hate to say this but Zhang, Rex Booker kjaer, and every body here, but history will not forget our commander,or better yet the government will just cover this all up and pretend this never happen.

Axton we will continue this talk tomorrow DR morant leaves the room.

Stranges thing happend to me today, during that trial I got really mad for some unkown reason. I started yelling and swearing, its really not like me to do such a thing. Maybe I have been underground for to long. I mean never in my life did I hit someone, but kicking that Mac guy right in the head...it feelt...good, heck if I could I would do it again. Oh god listen to me what is wrong with me, I'm a Father not some crazy guy who enjoys bringing pain to others. I should hit the gym and let my anger out on the punching bag maybe that will help me.

In other news I heared that Anna was sent to the medbay for some reason, I was worried and wanted to visit but they would not let me see her, altough Ayame said she would probably be able to see her, here is hoping she well say hi for me. I'm glad Ayame and Persephone are safe now. Really suprised that Ayame was a lesbian, but I wont judge her for that, I can almost understand why. Either way she will still be like a daughter to me. Strange why is that? I thing I might be going crazy, missing my familie and all, probably makes me seek out new family for the time being, life is confusing at the moment.

One last thing, Persephone seem really nice, I hope we can meet each other in someway that does not involve being on a trial. Either way it was a long day, I should get some sleep tommorow is Officer School and they promissed to bring a corpse in to show us the hard shell and talk about it, I bet Anna hates to miss this.

Video Log [Translated from Mandarin]

Ayame has a look and exhaustion but contention. She wears a tank top and a small pair of shorts and her hair is down, apparently ready for bed.

"It feels like forever since I did one of these. I visited Anna for an hour today. Well, an hour while she was awake, anyway....Whoa, didn't mean for that to sound as creepy as it did. I updated her on some of the goings-on here on base. I let her know I met Anja, and she seemed like a pleasant person. I also let her know that pervert doctor is gone. She laughed and said 'good, now I don't have to kick his ass when I get out of here'. She also told me to make sure I thank Colin and Persephone again when I see them next."

"I told her about my...um, weird encounter with Axton, though I left out the part about him hurting my leg. Luckily, she hasn't noticed my limp, and my leg is almost better. I hate to hide things from her, but the last thing she needs is something to worry her and make her condition worsen. Speaking of which, I also didn't tell her about the letter I sent to the Russian military about her cousin. There is no need to pointlessly get her hopes up, and besides..." Ayame eyes dart back and forth with worry, "I'm afraid she might be upset with me for going over her head."

Ayame lets out a long sigh. "Maybe...maybe I'm just worrying too much. I just can't get over the feeling that something is wrong. Why are there still guards watching Anna? She said it was for security, but what if its something beyond that? What if Anna knows something she's too afraid to tell me?"

Ayame sleepily rubs her eyes, glancing at a clock. "At any rate, I need to get some sleep. I have a lot of training to do in the morning. The doctors said I have to complete all my mandatory training each day before seeing Anna, and the last thing I want to do is force Zhang to discipline me after he helped me out so much. So I'll follow the rules for now. I just hope Anna gets out of there soon. I hate seeing her laying there, so helpless."

Ayame lets out one last sigh before switching the camera off.

I can't believe it's only been four days since I last wrote in this, it almost feels like an eternity with everything that's happened, where do I even begin? I've got twenty hours of latrine duty for the next few days, but you know what? I'll take it, I'll take it with pride if it's the price I pay for serving the kind of justice that should have been served three years ago! I can't remember the last time I've felt this content with the world, a bit ironic considering the entire human race is in danger from being wiped off the face of the earth, and millions of lives could be lost if we fail but I'm not going to let it bother me, not yet anyway. I'll worry about it later when I have too. For now I will enjoy this sense of peace and security while it lasts. I know I've said this before but I feel extremely lucky to know people here who have my back, I feel lucky to have met Ayame, I feel lucky to have met Anna (who I still feel I need to get to know a bit more, I'm thinking I'll stop by the med bay at some point to see if she's alright), and even Colin. I know I haven't known him very long but he'd made a really good first impression during the trial, he seems like a very trustworthy individual, and considering the fact that he's already happily married I don't feel any sense of vulnerability around him. My only concern is the fact that on top of being my friends, they may soon be my squad-mates too, but again, these are thoughts I will worry about later. For now I am at peace.

Well, here's to my first mission!
Oh man, and what a mission it was. So apperantly the world is in a bit of an uproar right now. Seems like they've begun the invasion for real now. We've got massive alien battleships attacking, full scale attacks on cities and more abductions.

We got send out to the UK. severals alien squads had deployed there and were attacking civillians. Mission objective was simple enough. Kill aliens, rescue civillians. Easier said then done though.
We started with breaching the nearby supermarket. It gave us a reinforced position to operate from.

As expected, we already found some resistance inside, but after a granade and a few pistol rounds from me and Farmer, we got them cleared out.
I made two confirmed kills this mission, aswell as hit one while he was on the move. Not bad if I'd say so myself. Infact when I got back to the base, I was promoted to Corporal and given a Sniper Kit. Same as Farmer. Seems like we'll be doing the scouting from now on.

The battlefield was a slaughter. We managed to save roughly 50% of all the civillians. I had hoped we could've pulled out a bit more, but honestly. There wasn't much we could've done about it. The Commander really was on his A-Game today. We had one or two close shaves, but besides that he gave me and Farmer plenty of oppertunities to get our feet wet, which resulted in both of us getting promoted.

I'm excited to see what the future holds.

Jorn Lemonade walks into the gym with a bottle of water in his hand. He walks up to one of the machines puts his water bottle next to it, he messes a bit with the weights and starts working. He sees someone else walking into the gym.

Thef Rebell walks into the gym and walks to the punching bags to work off the rust. As he starts his series of strikes he noteses some one looking at him.

"You hit pretty hard, you boxed before?" Jorn askes.

Thef replies " I lital most combat training and a few bar fights you?"

Jorn laughs "No not really, but I liked watching the sport. I just did the military combat training." "...twelve...thir-teen.....for-teen.....fifteen!" Jorn puts the weights down and looks on his watch.

Thef replies "Hay if you got the time we can go a few rounds."

"Sure I would like a sparring match, give me a second I'm going to put on some gloves."

"Ok I will wait for you in the circal"

Jorn puts on his gloves and looks up to Thef who is making himself readdy in the circle by air boxing a bit. Jorn steps into the circle "So what type of boxing, any rules?".

"We'll no low blows kick boxing is optional and no crying after I win" Thef then let's out a small chuckle.

"fine by me. Lets begin." Jorn puts his gloves in a defensive style and walks slowly toward the middle.

"Remember to also protect your body" Thef moves up and throws one quick gut punch.

Jorn barely blocks it by lowers his fists a bit, and he trows out a jab.
Thef takes a lean back and seeing an opening takes a strike at Jorns head
Jorn gets hit, steps back and shakes it of before he takes a step to the left.
Seeing Jorn step left thef starts to circal the ring then after circling twice goes in for a jab.

Jorn ducks and goes for a counter.
Thef takes the hit staggering back.
Jorn steps in to go for a right jab.
Thef rises is right arm to counter.
Jorn gets hit hard in the face, and trys to back off.
Thef decides to forget this opening and decides to recover

"Danm you hit hard." says Jorn.

"You're not to bad your self"

"Thanks"

As soon as Jorn said that Thef jumped in for a right hook.
Jorn ducks trying to dodge the right hook.
Jorn successfully doges but lands straight into an uppercut
Jorn gets launched into the air, flies back, landing on his back.

"Ahhh" Jorn says trying to get up. "Okay that hurt."

" you ok. You delt with that hit like a man" thef reaches hand out to help him up.

Jorn grabs his hand and gets pulled up. "My jaw hurts, but I'm okay. Should we call it quits for now? I think you won." He says with a smile.

"Ya we should do this again anuther time but I think I going to take a nap"
"That is fine." Jorn removes his gloves, grabs his jaw and moves it a bit around. "I see you later, it was a great match."

Teacher: Extraterrestrial Doctor & Scientis Selena Sprous

Man it has been a serious day yesterday, but no worries, school should get my mind cleared and focused on something more important. Selena brought in some Chryssalid skin today and will teach us about it, this should be exciting.

Lesson #3
Chryssalid

Selena (Teacher): Hello everybody, welcome back, I hope you are all as excited as I'm today for we will be learning about the Chryssalid. Now it is an interessting topic to discuss, but do not let that fog you, the Chryssalid is one the most dangerous aliens we have meet, sure there might be more but we still have to discover them. On the bright side we finally invented something to capture the aliens, maybe I will go over this new device someday, fact is we still have to test it, and as long as we do not have a containment facility we can not bring these creatures back and put them someplace safe for supervising on them.

Anyway if you could all take a seat so we can get started that would be great. Now the Chryssalid is a four legged alien, these legs give him swift movements across the field, do not try to outrun them for it is pointless, if you thing outrunning a dog was hard, then good luck trying it on the Chryssalid, although we do not recommend it. Do be warned they also have very sharp claws and pinchers on there mouth, if you are not careful you will end up as dinner. I know this might all sound harsh but this Chryssalid is no joke. We only want your safty after all by teaching you this. Also when in a building you should be careful, for they have a strong leap ability. Meaning nothing more than they are adepted to fall great lengths. We have also figured out that this alien has poision on his pinchers so if you do survive a close encounter with this creature, fact is that the poison could kill you.

That is all we have figured out so far, although we do belive that there might be something else about the Chryssalid which we do not know about yet, but we suspect more...

Colin takes a second to think about this in his head.
"Suspect more...? Could they be talking about Anna? Why else would they denie accses to the medical lab for a couple of day's...No I'm probably thinking to hard again, back to topic."

...til we know more. Know any question before we show the Chryssalid skin? No? Alright then let me get it just hold on."

Selena leaves the room and returns shorlty after with what looks like an empty Chryssalid body.

"Now this was a Chryssalid, we cut them open removed it all and found out we can use the skin to our advantage, by applying this to our armour it should be safe to assume that an encounter with a Chryssalid would be safer if the soldier were to wear this armour. Something we also figured out is that duo to the hard skin protection the Chryssalid we can not use our capturing device on a Chryssalid, even though the Chryssalid is organic the heavy skin just protects it. So for anyone who will be running around out there with our new capturing device remember you can not capture Chryssalid! Also since these aliens seem to be a upclose and personal fighter, it is good to take that to your advantage and lure them into a trap if you do catch sight of a Chryssalid, also Dr.Vahlen told me that it is alright to use explosive on these creatures since they do not carry and guns with them. No matter how the Chryssalid dies, all we can get in the end in the corpse. Now that is all for now, if you want to examine the Chryssalid skin more closely come down after class, but please do not touch. As always we will leave research notes for you all to take home incase we missed something during this lesson or you missed something. Have a good day all.

A cursory examination of this creature reveals it is similar to insect species found on Earth. Although covered in an incredibly hard exoskeleton, the six appendages of this alien are nevertheless exceedingly light and flexible.

Unlike the other aliens we've encountered thus far, it is arthropodal in nature, plated in a sleek, black exoskeleton. The "Chryssalids", as we're calling them, based on their reproductive habits, measure over three meters long from nose to tail, and stand almost two meters high when perched on their hind legs.

One can only wonder why the aliens would use what appears to be a savage, unpredictable creature... in any case, this is certainly not a creature to be trifled with, and our troops would do well to exercise extreme caution when engaging this species. Targeting another example in the field through the Unit Analysis View may provide additional information as to its combat capabilities.

Man it has been an interesting week, first my damn blood lust got the better of me for the past few days,so I had Ayame beat the crap out of me just to subdewit, even though I nearly brook her leg in the process but she got the job done, next I got a room change just to protect my roommates from my blood lust, next I kind did this weird ritual just to get rid of him but at least he's goon, and my mind and body is at peace now but thanks to my damn major Zhang I am now on the suicide watch,so that is fucking awesome,I swear to the gods I need to make a hit lest after this war is over.

Well it's been a while since Talked about the aliens,so I my last journal entry I said that the aliens have officially promoted us,to pitta full resistance to mild annoyance, and I suspect to see some more beefy aliens, and by beefy I mean actual grunts there real foot solders,so I expect the aliens will start hitting us a lot harder then they have been,on a side note there is one alien that has peeked my interest and that would be the "Chryssalid"that alien reminds me of the aliens for the, alien vs predator franchises which makes me think that the aliens have been on earth for a very long time if the Chryssalid came from the alien move, and I can't wait to kill one of them and take it's head.

*Laughs* "We did it gentlemen! Did you see that? We wasted them! I feel like we can do this! I feel like we can really take these bastards down!"

*He grins at Jorn as he leans back and rests his head against the wall of the ship.*"You weren't kidding about using a shotgun, sir. Holy hell.""And what about you Farmer? You're a damn gunslinger! Shot them right out of the sky."
*Holds up his hand for a high five with Farmer before realising he's still surrounded by officers and slowly lowers his hand.*

"Ahem.... er... sorry sir. Guess I got a little too excited there."

Jorn:
"I don't really care, you guys did a great job, so you guys may celebrate." Jorn leans back with his hands on the back of his head. "We were also like this our first time right?" He looks at Zian and Booker hoping that they agree.

Booker:" I agree the rookies did a good job out there, no we all did good."

Booker:
"Oh Lemonade i think you got your thing back after the last mission mess up and thanks for saving my butt from that nasty bug but i got to get the first one."

Farmer:
*lightly punches Daniel's shoulder*
"What can I say? I used handguns a bit at my old job. Besides, it was Zhang with those grenades of his that opened them up for us in the first place." *Turns and hollers up to Zhang in the front* "Isn't that right, sir?"
"By the way, the beret looks good on you. Man, I wish my old slouche hat wasn't against regulations. Ah well, maybe I should ask for some of those shooting headphones instead, try not to go deaf from those high-powered rifles we're going to be using."

Shah:
You rookies did really well considering how much practice you've had out on the field and Daniel; good first mission cos you weren't even shaken up. I remember my first mission, it was a disaster for me; missing shots and panicking.

Jorn:
"Yeah we have all been there.
Thanks Booker I'm also really proud of myself because I got to earn my stripes back. I'm going to drink some when we get back. Who's with me?"

Daniel:
"Sounds good to me Jorn. I'm sure I can get us some dvd's aswell. I think we've earned some R&R."
*He adjusts a strap on his boot.*
"We've been hitting them pretty hard I think. Although we've already lost some good men. Every mission up till now has been successful, right? Plus I'm not sure if I have clearance for this yet, but that gadget you're carrying Jorn. Looks like we're even getting some fancier tech on our side."

Jorn:
"Yeah, I hope the commander doesn't get to cocky."

Booker:
i will disagree about the commander being cocky. We save lives man."

Daniel:
"Seems we're about to land. I'll meet you guys later tonight for a drink. First I'm grabbing a long hot bath."

Booker:
"You go do that you earned it out there today."

Jorn:
"Yeah, you too Big Farmer, I see you guys for a drink soon."

Man that felt good killing that huge Muton thing, I thought they were going to be trouble with how much armor they had but I guess we have a pretty strong team; Booker and Zhang will soon become colonels and Jorn and I will soon become colonels as well. I got the e-mail reply from the Commander but unfortunately he didn't really acknowledge my advice which I'm fine with. While I was looking for clothes in my suitcase, I found the packet of cigarettes I put but I know that it isn't safe to smoke under ground so I only had one but the smoke alarm went off and everyone got suspicious, better smoke somewhere else next time. I'm hoping to get my hands on those cool new laser weapons for the next mission which is related to Zhang (still don't know a ton about the whole Zhang situation). Speaking of Zhang, I really hope none of the other guys found out I was smoking cos if they tell Zhang I'm screwed. Not knowing much about the outside world sure is scary but is it safer than knowing everything.
